Classification by Sound Production Principle
Mechanical Bicycle Bell
Principle: By manually pressing or flicking the bell cover, the hammer inside strikes the inner wall of the bell cover, producing a crisp sound.
Features: Simple structure, low cost, no need for batteries or other external power sources, high reliability. However, the volume and sound quality are relatively limited, and prolonged use may cause component wear, leading to volume reduction or noise.
Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for cost-sensitive users, relatively quiet riding environments, and those with low requirements for bell sound, such as ordinary bicycles for daily short-distance commuting.
Electronic Bicycle Bell
Principle: Built-in electronic circuit and speaker; pressing the button triggers the circuit, causing the speaker to emit preset sounds. The sounds can be simulated traditional bell tones or various personalized sound effects, such as alarms or animal calls.
Features: Loud volume, clear sound quality, adjustable volume, diverse sound effects, and some electronic bells also have waterproof and dustproof functions. However, they require battery power, and insufficient battery charge will affect normal use.
Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for noisy riding environments where louder volume is needed to alert others, such as riding on city roads, busy traffic areas, or for users with special bell sound requirements.
Classification by Installation Method
Horizontal Handlebar Bicycle Bell
Installation Position: Mounted on the bicycle handlebar, usually fixed with screws or clips.
Features: Easy to install, simple to operate, riders can easily press the bell cover with their thumb while riding. However, since it is installed on the horizontal handlebar, it may occupy some lateral space, affecting grip comfort.
Applicable Bicycle Types: Suitable for most types of bicycles, especially mountain bikes and road bikes.
Vertical Handlebar Bicycle Bell
Installation Position: Mounted on the bicycle handlebar, usually at the connection between the handlebar and the front fork.
Features: Does not occupy lateral space, does not affect grip, and has a relatively simple overall appearance. However, installation of horizontal handlebar bells is slightly more complex, and operation may require slight adjustment of hand posture.
Applicable Bicycle Types: Suitable for bicycles that pursue a simple appearance and have lateral space requirements, such as some city leisure bicycles.
